Catania Calcio 1 – 0 Atalanta
- Atalanta couldn’t make it three in a row and lost, despite decent play, on a 59th minute goal by Michele Paolucci off a Catania counterattack. The Catania win put them in a three-way tie for first with Atalanta and Lazio, all with 6 points.
Roma 3 – 0 Reggina
- If anyone needed a win this week it was Roma, and they managed to pick up their first victory of the season. Panucci put Roma ahead during injury time at the end of the first half after the ball ping-ponged around the area. Was he offside? Meh. Maybe. But it was a well-earned goal nonetheless. Alberto Aquilani scored an outstanding goal early in the second half to put Roma up 2-0, sending in a stinging shot from just inside the left side of the penalty area. Roma closed out the game with a final goal in the third minute of stoppage time, when Campagnolo stopped a Totti free kick right into the path of Perrotta, who tapped it home. The Roma players were predictably joyous in victory, and I’m sure they’re hoping this is the start of their season’s turnaround.
