Better Late Than Never – Me AND the Lakers

LA Lakers 114, Golden State 106
So this write-up is only, let’s see, two days late. I figured with another game tonight, it was about time to get this one done. The Lakers took a similar approach to this game, waiting till late in the game to show up and snatch victory from the Warriors, who battled valiantly all game. It was truly a game of runs, with Golden State coming out of the gate quickly, the Lakers firing in return for a lead, another Warriors run (if you can use that term to describe two whole quarters), followed by an all-out Laker rejuvenation in the fourth quarter for the win. Kobe did his thing and Ariza played exceptionally (6-of-10 for 17), but this was Pau’s game as he rebounded from a mediocre performance the night before against New Orleans. Our injury situation is really starting to show, but it’s a testament to the depth and strength of this team that they’re still pretty formidable with a ravaged lineup.
The only other thing I’ll mention is that we don’t seem to get much love from the officials these days. For a team that went to the Finals last year and featuring a player who is arguably the best in the world, you might think we would occasionally get the benefit of the doubt, but it hasn’t been the case. All our struggles have been of our own making, so no passing of the buck there, but the officials turning a blind eye has become just a tad noticeable. It probably comes down to mere chance – and the fact that we ran into Joey Crawford, who loves to get the home fans riled up – but I wouldn’t mind seeing our guys get some more calls. Just saying.
Let’s hope they can have a better start to the game tonight and get some revenge against the Pacers for that heartbreaker last month. Highlights:
